What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is targeted bodywork designed around your training schedule and athletic demands. It’s not about fixing injuries – it’s about keeping your body performing while you push its limits.

 

Different from deep tissue (which fixes problems) or relaxation (which calms minds), sports massage adapts to where you are in your training cycle. Pre-race? I prepare muscles for effort. Post-marathon? I help them recover faster. Mid-training block? I keep everything moving smoothly.

 

After working with Barcelona runners, cyclists, CrossFitters, and Sunday footballers for 10 years, I know what active bodies need. Sometimes it’s firm flushing strokes to move metabolic waste.     Sports massage supports your training goals and performance at different stages. Whether you’re preparing for competition, in active training, or recovering afterward, timing your sessions strategically helps you get the most from each massage.

    Light pressure, faster strokes to activate muscles without creating soreness. Think preparation, not repair. Never try new bodywork right before race day.

    Gentle flushing to help your body process the effort. Not deep work - your muscles are already traumatized from the event. We're helping recovery, not adding stress.

    This is where magic happens. Regular work keeps small issues from becoming big problems. Most of my athletes book standing appointments.

    Common Questions from Athletes

    Deep tissue fixes problems. Sports massage maintains performance. One is repair work, the other is maintenance. Athletes need both at different times.

    Tight muscles limit range of motion. Better range means more efficient movement. So yes, but not because I'm magic - because you'll move better.

    After hard sessions, before easy days. Never immediately before hard efforts or races. I'll help you schedule around your training plan.

    I can work on the muscles around it and improve how everything moves together. But "fixing" suggests medical treatment - see a physio for actual injury.

    Amazing massage experience here. I went for the first time as I found the studio in my yoga event research and I was not disappointed. I like to try new massage places in Barcelona as I arrived 10 months ago and exploring the offers across the city. He is making sure why you are coming to provide the best service and support along to make you feel at ease. I booked a 90 min massage for 80 euros. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated after the massage.
